So I’ve done it guys! I’ve picked the one, I’ve signed the contracts and I’m buying my first home! Wahoo. It all happened super super fast. I’d been thinking about it for a few months but not really actively looking. I noticed a new development come on the market and went to the weekend Open Day, completely fell in love and by the Monday I’d gone and secured it! How long ’til the move? Well this beauty is being built from the ground up as we speak; so I have just over a year to get everything in place ready for it (and we all know how fast time goes!) It’s the most beautiful apartment on a brand new waterside development in the same area that my partner & I used to look at and dream about! And the best part: because it’s being built from scratch- we get all the interiors designed EXACTLY the way we want it! It actually feels like a dream come true.
I’m just like bursting with happiness and excitement right now, but actually also feel pretty damn proud! The property is perfect. Literally 1000% me. It’s cute, modern, a five-ten minute walk from the city centre, has amazing surroundings, a great atmosphere, cool vibes. And what’s better is it will be mine. Well and truly mine. I’ve worked so so hard to get here. Honestly, it’s been such a battle at times. When I first started my business my income was up and down, up and down. I’d often worry if I would have enough to cover all of my bills. But I kept pushing, kept working around the clock and it’s finally paying off! (It always does in the end I think) Despite everything, I’m very morally driven and will never take handouts. Not for anything. So to be able to secure this by myself, with my own business (which let me tell you: getting a mortgage when you work for yourself is a challenge in itself!) at the age of just 22: it is an accomplishment. I’m kind of on a mission with it now too…
So far, I’ve managed to save nearly 30% of the buying price already; and by the time I move in- it’s my goal to put 40% into the deposit, which is insane savings (especially alongside traveling) but I’ve done it all myself this far and I KNOW I can push for that extra 10%. (HOW? You may ask… Well if you’re interested in my methods read my ‘Ultimate Saving Plan’ and ‘Three Steps To Successfully Achieving All Of Your Goals‘) From there, I’ve then created a saving & pay-back plan for the final 60% in less than 10 years. Uh-huh, bring it on on! I’ve always stood by the fact that I will never settle. For well, anything in life. So watch and see guys, watch and see! The financial freedom plan is in full swing XD
The key to success is to make yourself unstoppable.
How you become unstoppable? By getting that FOCUS, DETERMINATION and KICK-ASS WORK ETHIC. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people going after their goals and absolutely bossing it. Surrounding yourself with those people who are trying and trying and trying -despite the knock backs or failures- yet still maintaining a positive, inspiring attitude. Because guys: it really makes all the difference. It pushes you to go for more and become the best that you can be.
Are you trying to find your feet on the property ladder? Let me know your challenges. I’d love to see what advice I could give or how I could potentially help. Sometimes it’s just a case of getting organised, getting clear, creating that plan and then breaking it down: step by step, day by day. Nothing is out of reach. The first step is simply believing that.
My very best wishes!
